The Plain Township Historical Society in conjunction with the Plain Local Schools Foundation & Alumni Association Proudly Presents
with the “Courthouse Players”
Abbey Foltz Stage – GlenOak High School
The play is set in August 1865 at the close of the Civil War, before a military court in Washington, DC, where Swiss immigrant and Confederate Captain Henry Wirz is on trial. Wirz was the commandant of the infamous Andersonville Prison Camp. Oddly enough Wirz is the only Confederate ever tried for war crimes and the issue is further muddied by the fact that the case is being held in a military court.
The Andersonville Trial is directed by Joe Martuccio, Canton Law Director, and former Stark County Public Defender. It is presented by Special Arrangement with Dramatists Play Service Inc, New York and written by Saul Levitt. The players (actors) themselves are all somehow related to the field of Law. They call themselves the Courthouse players and came out of Law Week.
All proceeds to benefit the Plain Local Schools Foundation and Plain Township Historical Society.
