Preservation Planning Workshop

September 26, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

September is National Preparedness Month, which reminds us to take action to prepare for the types of emergencies that can affect us where we live and work. For museums, historical societies, libraries and other collecting institutions, this means planning for unexpected circumstances, and improving the general preservation of our collections while they are in storage, on exhibit, and traveling between locations.

Join ICA and the Pro Football Hall of Fame for a workshop on Preservation Planning, where we cover the basics of what to include in a preservation plan, and dive into creating and/or updating participating institutions’ core documents.

Topics will include:
• Assessing preservation needs
• Disaster planning & emergency preparedness
• Environmental factors & facility maintenance
• Collections care survey
• Housekeeping guidelines
• Conservation prioritization

Participants will have the opportunity to stay for a brief tour of the Ralph Wilson, Jr. Pro Football Research and Preservation Center.

This program is FREE, but registration is required. Contact Jennifer at the ICA to register, (216) 658-8700, or via email to jennifersc@icaartconservation.org.
