Do you want to learn how to capture the stories of your community, your neighborhood?
Ohio Humanities and Columbus Metropolitan Library seek community members who are interested in recording the history of race and ethnicity in Columbus to take part in an Oral History training institute on April 29, 2017 at Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Main Library, 96 S. Grant Ave., Columbus, Ohio.
Trainees will receive instruction on interviewing techniques, recording technology, and project design. Additional oral history resources for preserving your project may be made available for selected interviews courtesy of Columbus Metropolitan Library and Ohio Humanities.
From the debate surrounding school desegregation to the building of Interstate 71, many in Columbus have their own stories to tell. Oral history allows community members to share their experiences with authenticity and nuance. Help us capture this untold history.
Ohio Humanities and Columbus Metropolitan Library invite motivated individuals to apply for oral history training through this one-day workshop. Please apply with your name, contact information, and reason for attending via email at jimc@ohiohumanities.org or call 614-461-7802.
Deadline is April 14, 2017. A $25 fee for handouts and lunch will be assessed for institute participants.
Funding provided by the National Endowment of the Humanities through its Legacy of Race and Ethnicity initiative.
