Methods of Historical Research for Museum Education Programming

Thu, Jul 25, 2024 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM EDT

Are you interested in starting a historical research project but have no clue where to begin? You’re not alone. Historical research can be a daunting task. This webinar helps begin the process of historical research, focusing on the methods and resources needed to research, analyze, and interpret historical events and time periods. Museum educator, Mia Rook-Leeser, demonstrates the tools to develop research, assess reliability, and work with primary and secondary sources.
Mia Rook-Leeser began work in the museum field in 2015 as a college intern in a collections department at a historic site. She attended the University of North Texas, graduating in 2018, with a BA History and a BS in Anthropology. Mia then continued her education at Southern New Hampshire University, graduating in 2020, with a MA in History, and began a PhD in 2021; she expects to graduate in 2025. Mia has been with the Texas Historical Commission since February 2022 as the Educator and Interpreter for Landmark Inn in Castroville, Texas.
