Even in small institutions, patrons interested in using collections are increasingly expecting to access them digitally. Many historical societies, libraries, and museums have responded to this expectation by digitizing on demand, featuring special collections through digitization, or embarking on mass digitization projects, often without exploring the preservation risks associated with digital objects. This session will explore self-assessment as a tool for improving young and developing digital preservation programs.
