We may participate in strategic planning to help chart our organization’s future, but how often in our careers do we stop and examine where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going? Anne W. Ackerson is a veteran director of historic house museums and historical societies in central and eastern New York, and the Museum Association of New York.  She now currently serves as the executive director of the Council of State Archivists. Anne is also an independent organizational development consultant working primarily with cultural institutions.  She is the co-author of the 2013 book Leadership Matters, which looks at the leadership needs of successful 21^st Century history museums.  Her newest book project explores lessons for women working in museums.  She also writes regularly about management and leadership issues for cultural institutions in her blog, Leading by Design.
