Gravestone Cleaning Workshop (Auglaize County)

The Auglaize County Historical Society, in collaboration with Greenlawn Cemetery, will host a Gravestone Cleaning Workshop on Tuesday, May 20, at 4 pm, with Krista Horrocks of the Ohio History Connection.  The program will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta,, with May 27 as the bad weather date.

The workshop, which will also include a brief presentation about the history of Greenlawn Cemetery, will focus on proper cleaning methods for historic tombstones.  Participants will also have the opportunity to clean one or more tombstones themselves, under Horrocks’ supervision.

The program is limited to 25 participants, each of whom will receive basic supplies needed for cleaning  tombstones.  The cost is $22 each for county Historical Society members, and $28 for non-members.  The deadline for registration is May 13.

Krista Horrocks is Department Manager, Education and Support Services, for the Ohio History Connection. She holds an AAS in Archeology from Hocking College, a BSS in Historic Anthropology from Ohio University, and an MA in American Studies from Youngstown State University.  She has served the Ohio History Connection in several capacities since January 2017.
