A Special Discussion with European Space Agency Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, “The Apprentice Astronaut”

October 17, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

$5

The International Women’s Air & Space Museum (IWASM) is once again partnering with Loganberry Books to bring the stories of women in aerospace to life. IWASM and Loganberry Books will be joined by European Space Agency Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti as she launches the U.S. edition of Diary of an Apprentice Astronaut on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

Selected in the 2009 European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut class, the Italian Cristoforetti is set to launch aboard the SpaceX Crew-4 mission in spring 2022. She will become the first ESA female commander of the International Space Station (ISS) during her upcoming space flight. During her first mission in 2014, Cristoforetti spent 200 days in space – setting the record for longest duration in space by a female astronaut at the time. In her book, she provides an intimate account of her first journey to the ISS, and guides the reader through becoming apprentice astronauts themselves.

Moderated by IWASM Trustee and Space Advisor, Marcy Frumker, the museum and Loganberry Books are excited to welcome virtually Cristoforetti to Cleveland on October 17.

The event will take place via Zoom. Registration is required and all participants will receive a Zoom link to join. Registration is by minimum donation of $5. Donations go toward furthering IWASM’s mission to preserve, educate, and inspire communities about the impact of women in all areas of aviation and aerospace.

Books may be purchased ahead of time from Loganberry Books and at the time of registration by going to www.loganberrybooks.com. IWASM members will receive 10% discount with promo code.
